Abstract

One of the darkest chapters of English criminalistics involves the activities of the serial killer known as the “Yorkshire Ripper” from 1975 to 1980. As the length of his activities shows, police officers have failed to identify the perpetrator for a long time, while he continued attacking his victims. The killer’s name refers to “Jack the Ripper”, who committed similar crimes at the end of the 19. century, and had always remained unknown. The Yorkshire-monster assaulted and killed mostly, but not exclusively pros titutes, and his victims were all women. One of the lessons that can be drawn from the investigation is that it is very important to have a well organized system of data processing, which also helps filtering out intentional deception.
