Abstract
Effective action against the cross-border crime requires close cooperation between Member states in the field of expert evidence. The author argues that this requires mutual trust, which is based – among others – on generally accepted standards and accreditations. The principle of mutual recognition also calls for the reconsideration of the role of experts, as well as the general rules of evidence.
