Abstract
The author, the parliamentary commissioner, provides an overview of the ombudsman’s investigations on procedures and state obligations concerning the prevention of flooding, inland waterways, and other natural disasters, including damage control and financial settlements. The article covers investigations performed in 2009 and 2010, as well as the previous ombudsperson’s case law, and a special project launched in 2011, focusing on the fundamental rights aspects of managing natural and industrial disasters.
