Abstract
The General Directorate of Water Management has worked in the present organisational structure since January 2012 as an organisation with nationwide competence, controlled by the minister of interior. Among the nearly 240 colleagues are water management specialists, engineers, economists, computer scientists - who help to fulfil the wide-ranging tasks of the general directorate by their knowledge and practice in their professional areas. To the manifold activities belong among others, through the management of the regional directorates of water management, maintenance and operation of surface waters, streams and water canals, water management systems and ramparts; the perspective declaration to water basis of possible water gaining areas, the protection against damages on waters, keeping international contacts with water management companies through several channels and at several levels in the topics of water protection and flood risks’ management. Water management is a special field which is not organised according to traditional public administration units but according to drainage basins. About complexity of the tasks in the everyday, about preparations of water management for the winter season and about the challenges of the year 2020 and the pandemic situation we asked general director Mr. István Láng.
