An alternative state: the mafia in Sicily

Abstract

After the end of the cold war, besides terrorism, organised crime became a central issue in security studies. Using the example, the ideology, organisation and structure of Cosa Nostra in Sicily, the author shows how organised crime can integrate into public administration.
