Abstract
Since 2014 the government has controlled the water management organisations, responsible in first line for water economy, by the minister of interior. The organisational development of the water branch has been traceable, with some exaggeration, back to the age of Árpád, the founder of Hungary. In this paper is the organisational development of the water branch presented, under special consideration of its role in the state budget
