Abstract
The Hungarian Prison Service in the last decade has introduced legislative changes and subsequent measures concerning the placement and treatment of sex offenders. In connection with the above, the author briefly presents the issues with defining sex offenders and the role of prison itself, as well as the demographic data and characteristics of the prison population. The highlighted researches were also intended to establish inmate profiles that determine and dictate the related treatment directions. Based on the researches the study provides a brief depiction of the treatment possibilities in Hungary.
