Abstract
Elena Martellozzo, Professor of Criminology at Middlesex University, has been conducting pioneering research for over two decades in the fields of cybercrime, online child protection, and digital policing. Her work focuses on combating online child exploitation, analysing offender behaviour, and promoting the ethical use of artificial intelligence and big data. In this interview, she discusses the evolution of cybercrime, new methods in digital law enforcement—especially undercover online investigations—and the ways in which academic research can be directly applied in policing and policy-making. Professor Martellozzo is deeply committed to ensuring that her scientific contributions not only enrich academic discourse but also lead to real societal change, particularly in safeguarding children in the digital world.
