Abstract
At the Faculty of Law Enforcement of the University of Public Service the descriptions of all the subjects of the new curriculum must be complied according to the training and output requirements of the 18/2016 Decree of the minister of human resources and of the 222/2019 Government Decree. The paper gives an overview of their historical background and the standardisation efforts concerning higher education in Europe and Hungary. It discusses the key elements of learning outcome-based subject development and investigates how they are related to modern pedagogical taxonomies and to the development of the so-called “4C” (creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration) and “21st century” skills. Finally, through few examples, it presents how it can be implemented in law enforcement higher education.
