Abstract
Aim: In 2020, the Hungarian Government adopted Hungary’s national strategy on combating trafficking in human beings, of which one of the goals is to integrate the topic of trafficking in human beings into the topics of higher education of social workers.
Methodology: In order to implement this, the staff of the Department for European Cooperation Unit for Counter Trafficking and Horizontal Issues within the Ministry of Interior and the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference held a professional consultation with the participation of the faculties and departments offering majors in the field of social work.
Findings: The topics of the subject will be developed in a close cooperation with the competent department from the Ministry of Interior. The integration of the combat against trafficking in human beings as a subject in the curriculum requires further reflection.
Value: Recognizing the high importance of the topic, the leadership of the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences of the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church, in Hungary, as of a pioneering way, in 2021/2022, launched an independent course in the first semester with a specific focus on the combat against trafficking in human beings in order to provide students with the widest possible knowledge.
