Absztrakt
Cél: A szerző a skandináv büntetőpolitikai modell bemutatását követően kitér annak elemzésére, miben sajátos az izlandi börtönrendszer működése. Megvizsgálja, milyen előnyökkel jár az alternatív büntetések alkalmazása ebben az egyébként is igen alacsony bűnözési rátával jellemezhető szigetországban.
Módszertan: A szerző a téma alapos megismeréséhez felkutatta a vonatkozó hazai és nemzetközi, főleg izlandi szakirodalmat. Ebben segítségére volt, hogy az Izlandi Kriminológiai Társaság meghívott előadójaként egy hetet eltölthetett a szigetországban, szakmai kapcsolatot építve ki a terület fő kutatóival.
Megállapítások: A tanulmány legfőbb megállapítása az, hogy Izland a többi skandináv államhoz képest még inkább elkötelezett a nyitott börtönök működtetése iránt, előtérbe helyezve az alternatív büntetések alkalmazását, félutas házban történő elhelyezést és a szabadságvesztés „ultima ratio”, végső eszközként való alkalmazását.
Érték: Legfőbb érték a skandináv büntetőpolitika legfőbb jellemzőinek összefoglalása mellett annak bemutatása, miben sajátos Izland a többi európai, sőt észak-európai államhoz képest, milyen eszközökkel éri el azt, hogy csökkenjenek a bebörtönzéssel járó ártalmak.
