Abstract
Although in the digital age people write less and less, handwriting and signature still have an important role. Based on the writing, the graphologist infers the character of the writer and certain behavioural features of him, the task of a handwriting expert is primarily to identify personality by writing, to verify the identity of the hand in the course of an official assignment (court, notary, prosecutor, police) or private assignment. In my study, I compare the two areas in the dimensions of related disciplines, domestic training opportunities, legal and ethical regulations, primarily by document and content analysis, in order to distinguish clearly between activities of a graphologist and a handwriting expert, and further to contribute to strengthening public confidence in forensic science and judiciary.
